About the App

The Goal:

The vision was to create an accessible, high-performance app capable of displaying Vienna's entire tree inventory (230,000+ records) even offline. Beyond serving as a reference tool, it needed to actively encourage urban exploration through gamification elements like the "Tree Rally."

The Challenge:

The biggest technical hurdle was performance: rendering 230,000 map markers smoothly on mobile devices required efficient visual clustering and memory management. Additionally, the multiplayer Rally Mode needed to ensure seamless real-time crossplay logic between iOS and Android clients.

A native, high-performance cross-platform experience with 100% feature parity. The implementation includes a custom 3-step camera workflow, proximity detection (<50m), and robust AR integration. The project is fully Open Source and strictly adheres to "Privacy by Design" principles.
